Privacy for image uploads

What imagebin stores, who can open an image, and how upload preferences work.

Images and upload records

imagebin stores uploaded image files, generated thumbnails, and upload records such as filename, size, file type, creation and expiry dates, titles, descriptions, tags, selected camera fields, and view counts. Signed-in uploads are associated with your shared account. Upload records include a keyed IP fingerprint used for limits and abuse handling. It is kept with the upload record until cleanup; moderation records or preservation holds can retain data longer.

Public and private links

Image pages are excluded from sitemaps. Public image pages can still be indexed by search engines, and public images marked safe can appear in the gallery. Private images are excluded from the gallery and require the complete link with its access token. Anyone who receives or is forwarded that link can open the image and save or share copies. Private pages request no indexing.

Metadata in the page and the file

The image page shows selected camera fields and omits GPS coordinates and serial numbers. The downloadable file may still contain metadata that the page does not display. Anonymous uploads use metadata removal by default; new signed-in accounts leave it off until you change upload preferences.

Metadata removal rewrites supported JPEG, PNG and WebP metadata before storage. GIF and BMP bytes are unchanged, and other unsupported formats are rejected when removal is requested. The guide explains each option. Visible details remain in the picture.

Image processing and AI

Images, including private images, can be processed by configured image-processing and AI services for thumbnails, safety classification, descriptions and tags. The account setting “Don’t generate AI descriptions or tags” stops that enrichment and clears existing descriptions and tags from your images; safety classification continues.

Expiry and deletion

Anonymous uploads expire after 90 days. Signed-in browser and API uploads have no automatic expiry. You can delete your uploads from your account. Expiry and deletion stop normal service access. Copies saved by others remain. Moderation records and files under a preservation hold can be retained after normal access ends.

Accounts and privacy questions

Accounts and sign-in are managed by pastebin.ca. Its privacy policy describes that account service. For questions about imagebin’s image handling or a privacy request, use the contact details.
